FAMILY & FRIENDS DAY
Sunday, Aug. 3rd, 3pm-6pm
 
Please join me and your neighbors on Sunday, August 3rd outdoors at the site of the Showplace Arena and Equestrian Center at 14900 Pennsylvania Avenue, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 for our 4th annual District 9 Family & Friends Day.   In each of the past three years, over 1000 District 9 residents have attended this outstanding community event and this year will be even bigger and better! Please save the date and join us for fun, food, and valuable information from over 100 District 9 businesses, nonprofits, and county government agencies.  Bring the children and enjoy the afternoon with us.

 

**The primary purpose of this event is to promote our local business community.  If you are a business or nonprofit organization licensed to operate in the County and are interested in having a free display table at District 9 Day, please contact my Chief of Staff, Brendon Laster, at bllaster@co.pg.md.us or 301-952-3820.  Businesses and organizations based in District 9 will get preference. Please do not wait because space is limited.**

SUMMER PLAYGROUNDS

Conducted at neighborhood locations throughout the county, summer playgrounds offer games, crafts, and other fun activities for Prince George’s County residents only, ages 6-12. Children are free to come and go during the day, and to attend some days and not others. Children must meet the minimum age of 6 by the last day of the program – Friday, August 1, 2014 to attend this program. These drop-in programs operate Mondays-Fridays, June 23 until August 1:

Food for Children in Summer

From Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS):

Now through August 1, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) will provide free and nutritious breakfast and lunch for all children ages 18 and under at specific sites throughout the summer. “Providing continuous meals throughout the summer helps children receive the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow,” said Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools. The program will serve breakfast from 8:30-9 a.m. and lunch from 11a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sites not far from Accokeek are:

Accokeek is a small, mostly rural town, so there is not much news here yet. I will post news when I get some. You can email me your news or post it on Facebook or on our public forum.
